Orin Swift Papillon Red Wine 750ml

This is the second vintage of Papillon, Orin Swift's Bordeaux-style blend. The 2006 is Left Bank in style, with 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 27% Merlot, 4% Petit Verdot, 2% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc. The aromatics are still a bit closed right now, tending toward smoke and vanilla, but the spring fruit that comes through on the palate - strawberry and rhubarb - is peeking through. Hints of root beer, cherry and baking spice linger on the wine's structured finish.
